
Grandma’s Irish Soda Bread in the Pressure Cooker
This is a classic Irish Soda Bread recipe made using a pressure cooker.

- 1 Trivet

- 3 cups Flour all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 ½ cups Buttermilk room temperature
- 1 Egg large
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- ¼ cup Butter melted
- 2 tablespoon Caraway seeds optional

- Preheat the pressure cooker on the sauté setting.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add buttermilk, egg, and sugar to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Stir in melted butter and caraway seeds (if using).
- Knead the dough briefly and shape it into a round loaf.
- Place the loaf in a lightly greased pan that fits into your pressure cooker.
- Place the pan on a trivet inside the pressure cooker with water at the bottom.
- Close the lid and set the pressure to high for 45 minutes.
- Once cooking is complete, let the pressure release naturally.
- Remove the bread from the pressure cooker and let it cool before slicing.
Notes
For an even richer flavor, add raisins or currants to the dough before baking.
